Ferrero Group acquires Power Crunch

Ferrero Group, the global sweet-packaged food giant, is once again making moves that will leave your taste buds—and your protein intake—jumping for joy. In an exciting announcement on January 24, 2025, Ferrero revealed that it has signed an agreement to acquire Power Crunch, the ever-popular protein snack brand, from Bio-Nutritional Research Group, Inc. This marks yet another step in Ferrero’s mission to broaden its portfolio, with a strong focus on healthier, better-for-you snacks. But don’t worry—Ferrero’s signature sweetness isn’t going anywhere.

Let’s break it down: Ferrero isn’t just about chocolates and cookies anymore. With the acquisition of Power Crunch, the company is diving headfirst into the booming protein snack market. Power Crunch has made waves with its delicious high-protein wafers and crisps, and now, Ferrero plans to take that success and supercharge it.

Founded in 1996, Power Crunch has made quite the name for itself in the healthy snack world. Known for its high-protein wafer bars and crisps, the brand has gained a loyal following thanks to its tasty and filling products that don’t skimp on nutrition. In fact, Power Crunch’s crisps, which were launched in 2024, are one of the newest innovations in the brand’s impressive lineup. These snacks combine taste with a solid nutritional punch—making them a perfect fit for Ferrero’s growing “better-for-you” offerings.

So, what’s in it for Ferrero? A whole lot of protein, for one thing. But this acquisition isn’t just about adding more products to their shelves; it’s about diversifying into the rapidly growing health-conscious snack space. With Power Crunch, Ferrero can offer a combination of sweet indulgence and functional nutrition—something that’s especially appealing to today’s increasingly health-conscious consumers.

How this fits into Ferrero’s bigger picture

Ferrero has been making a name for itself not just with iconic chocolate brands like Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, and CRUNCH, but also through a series of strategic acquisitions aimed at growing its presence in the healthier snack market. With the purchase of FULFIL and Eat Natural in Europe, and even the integration of Wells Enterprises, Ferrero is solidifying its foothold in the snacking industry—both indulgent and better-for-you.

What does this mean for Power Crunch fans? Well, expect to see the brand expand even further across the U.S., thanks to Ferrero’s distribution channels and resources. And with Ferrero’s deep expertise in growing brands, Power Crunch could soon be in even more hands than before.

As part of the transaction, Ferrero will also take over an office site in Irvine, California, bringing about 50 employees from Power Crunch into the Ferrero fold in North America. This move further strengthens Ferrero’s presence in the U.S. snack market, especially in the health-conscious, protein-powered snack segment.
