Hardee’s recently launched the Frisco Breakfast Burger, a limited-time 42g-protein sandwich featuring Angus beef, cherrywood smoked bacon, a freshly cracked egg, and hash rounds on toasted sourdough.
To drive trial of the new sandwich, they introduced “Second Breakfast Insurance,” a promotion offering My Rewards members a complimentary combo replacement if they submit proof of an unsatisfying breakfast between March 23 and March 31, 2026.

Hardee’s is launching a new limited-time menu item and a promotional offer tied to it, both starting March 23, 2026. The chain introduced the Frisco Breakfast Burger, a high-protein breakfast sandwich built on sourdough, alongside a campaign called Second Breakfast Insurance — a program that offers a free replacement to any customer whose first breakfast left them unsatisfied.

According to Hardee’s announcement, the Frisco Breakfast Burger features a 100% USA Angus beef patty, cherrywood smoked bacon, a freshly cracked egg, melty American cheese, and crispy hash rounds on toasted sourdough. The burger delivers 42g of protein per serving.

The sandwich is available for a limited time through April 14 at participating Hardee’s locations nationwide.


What Second Breakfast Insurance Actually Is

The promotional mechanic is straightforward. From March 23 to March 31, My Rewards members who submit a past receipt or a photo of an unsatisfying breakfast at hardees.com/nosecondbreakfast qualify for a complimentary Frisco Breakfast Burger combo. According to the company, eligible entries will be rewarded by April 3.

The campaign targets a specific consumer frustration: breakfast sandwiches that don’t deliver lasting satiation. Hardee’s is using the promotion to draw a direct contrast with lighter, lower-protein quick-service breakfast options and to drive trial of the new burger among loyalty program members.

The My Rewards membership requirement is notable. Hardee’s channels the promotion through its loyalty ecosystem, using the offer to acquire and activate members rather than running a broad, untracked giveaway.


“Breakfast Shouldn’t Need a Backup Plan”

Sarah Breymaier, Vice President of Brand Marketing at Hardee’s, framed the launch around the protein positioning. “The Frisco Breakfast Burger was designed to keep our guests satisfied with significantly more protein than other breakfast sandwich options. Second Breakfast Insurance is our way of proving it,” Breymaier stated in the press release.

The dual launch structure is deliberate. The product and the promotion reinforce the same message: Hardee’s breakfast is filling enough to stand on its own. The insurance campaign functions as a risk-reversal offer, lowering the barrier to first trial by removing the financial downside of disappointment.


Protein-Forward Breakfast Is a CPG Supply Chain Story

The Frisco Breakfast Burger launch reflects a broader shift in how QSR and CPG brands approach the morning daypart. Protein content has become a primary purchase driver across breakfast formats, from grab-and-go bars to fast food sandwiches.

As Hardee’s builds on its protein-forward positioning, the brand is expected to extend this strategy beyond breakfast into broader, multi-daypart platforms. In the coming weeks, the chain will introduce a new limited-time menu built around prime rib, applying a higher-end cut of beef across breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. The rollout will signal a continued push toward premiumization, while maintaining the use of loyalty-driven offers to drive traffic and trial across its menu.
