What happened?
Taylor Shellfish Canada ULC has issued a recall of certain oyster products distributed in Canada and the United States. The recall, announced on December 27, 2024, follows an investigation by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) into a foodborne illness outbreak. 77 cases of norovirus-like illness were reported in the Vancouver Coastal Health, Fraser Health, and Island Health regions between November 1 and December 20. The affected oysters were harvested from British Columbia, Canada (growing area BC 14-8 LF# 0278741 and LF# 0335309) on November 27, December 3, and December 5, and were processed up to December 13, 2024. They were distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario, as well as in California and possibly other U.S. states.
