New York — HIPPEAS is expanding its plant-based snack lineup with two new chickpea puff varieties (Jalapeño Cheddar Blaze and All Dressed Up) as the brand continues to build momentum following a recent packaging refresh. The flavors are rolling out nationwide now across major retailers in multiple bag sizes, joining the company’s existing puff portfolio. Made with chickpeas, the new snacks deliver 4g of plant-based protein and 3g of fiber per serving, while maintaining the brand’s focus on gluten-free, vegan, and allergen-friendly ingredients.
According to the company, the launch responds to growing demand for globally inspired flavors and better-for-you snack options in the competitive puffed snack category.
New flavors expand plant-based puff lineup
The new varieties build on the brand’s existing puff flavors, including Groovy White Cheddar, Flavor Blast! Trippin’ Cheddar, Blazin’ Hot, and the pickle-inspired collaboration with Grillo’s Pickles that debuted in 2025.
Jalapeño Cheddar Blaze combines a jalapeño-forward spice with a creamy cheddar-style finish designed to balance heat and richness. Meanwhile, All Dressed Up takes inspiration from the well-known Canadian “all dressed” chip flavor profile, blending BBQ, salt & vinegar, and sour cream & onion notes into a sweet, tangy, and savory puff.
The snacks are baked rather than fried and contain 50% less fat than leading puffed snacks, according to the company.
As the brand continues to evolve its product portfolio, Nick Marmet, vice president of marketing at HIPPEAS, said the company is focused on flavor innovation while maintaining its nutritional positioning.
According to Marmet, the new releases are part of the brand’s strategy to expand flavor variety without compromising its plant-based credentials.
“At HIPPEAS, we’ve always believed better-for-you snacks should never feel like a compromise,” Marmet said in the announcement. “As the brand grows, we’re continuing to dial up the flavor, creating snacks that deliver big taste while still offering the plant-powered benefits our fans expect.”
The new flavors are currently available through retailers including Whole Foods Market, Target, Kroger, Walmart, and Amazon, among others.
Why it matters
The expansion reflects a broader trend in the snack industry: combining plant-based ingredients with bold, globally inspired flavors.
As demand for healthier snack alternatives grows, brands are increasingly competing on flavor intensity and novelty, not just nutrition. Chickpeas and other legume-based ingredients have become popular bases for snacks because they offer natural protein, fiber, and sustainability benefits.
At the same time, flavor experimentation (from spicy varieties to international seasoning profiles) is becoming essential for maintaining shelf visibility in crowded snack aisles. The “all dressed” flavor profile, long popular in Canada, has recently gained attention in the U.S. as brands look for differentiated seasoning blends.
For HIPPEAS, the new varieties serve as both a product expansion and a brand-building move as it continues to compete with traditional puffed snacks while maintaining a better-for-you positioning.
