Mondelez Unveils OREO x BTS Partnership with First-Ever Purple Wafers and Hotteok Flavor Architecture

Snacking giant Mondelēz International just announced a massive cross-continental partnership. Specifically, the company is launching the Limited Edition OREO & BTS Cookies worldwide. This historic rollout marks the famous K-pop group’s first-ever global snacking collaboration.

The highly anticipated launch begins officially on June 8, 2026. Consequently, millions of passionate fans can soon taste a unique treat celebrating the band’s 13th anniversary.

A Cultural Remix Inspired by South Korean Street Food

The core product formulation introduces a completely new flavor architecture. Specifically, the sandwich cookie features a custom sweet creme inspired by hotteok. Hotteok is a traditional brown sugar-stuffed pancake popular in South Korea’s vibrant street markets.

Furthermore, Mondelēz is rolling out its first-ever purple cookie wafers to match the group’s signature color. This bold visual design acts as an immediate anchor for consumers on grocery store shelves.

“For OREO to be our first global snacking partner is a huge honor,” BTS said in a joint statement. Therefore, the group is proud to share a genuine taste of their childhood roots with international audiences.

Structural Collectability and the 13-Year Milestone

To drive transactional velocity and incremental repeat purchases, Mondelēz is integrating a high level of scarcity and collectability into the physical cookies. To mark 13 years since the group’s 2013 debut, the cookies will feature 13 unique custom embossments designed by the band members themselves.

These custom structural stamps include the individual names of the seven band members (RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook), a stylized BTS light stick, and three special OREO cookie motifs that combine to form a hidden message. Because the stamped cookies vary randomly by package, Mondelēz is successfully porting the blind-box collectability model of the music merchandise industry directly into the high-volume CPG grocery aisle.

Interactive Omni-Channel “Love Letter” Marketing Campaign

The product drop is backed by an ambitious digital-to-physical marketing campaign aimed at breaking real-world engagement records. Taking inspiration from the traditional letter-writing culture deeply embedded within the BTS fandom, OREO is rallying fans to write the “world’s largest love letter” to the band.

Beginning June 8, 2026, shoppers can scan a QR code on the physical packaging or visit us.OREOBTS.com to type digital letters. The messages will be aggregated on a global stage, with participants entering a sweepstakes pool for exclusive co-branded prizes.

The Limited Edition OREO & BTS Cookies will be available for online presale starting Monday, June 1, 2026, via OREO.com/UnwrapTheCollab. Brick-and-mortar retail distribution across major grocery, mass, and convenience channels begins June 8, 2026, and will run for a strictly limited window while supplies last.
