MESQUITE, Texas — Peter Piper Pizza will open a redesigned family entertainment restaurant in Mesquite on May 28. The new location is at 5550 S. Buckner Blvd., Suite 300. The restaurant introduces a new prototype concept that combines dining, arcade gaming and interactive play areas. The opening is part of the brand’s effort to modernize its footprint across the U.S.
The new Mesquite location features a dedicated PlayPark for children under 56 inches tall. It also includes more than 40 arcade games, digital ordering capabilities and a 230-inch sports screen. The redesign is one of the company’s largest restaurant updates in recent years. It comes as family entertainment chains compete for consumers seeking experience-driven dining options.
According to Genaro Perez, the restaurant reflects a broader evolution for the company. The brand is aiming to balance modernization with its legacy pizza concept.
“This new location reflects the biggest evolution of the brand in our 50-year history and serves as a model for where we are looking to take the brand going forward,” Perez said in a company announcement.
Entertainment features drive new restaurant model
The updated restaurant model includes several new entertainment-focused additions aimed at families and group gatherings, including:
- PlayPark indoor activity area for younger children
- More than 40 arcade games
- A 230-inch viewing screen for sports and entertainment
- Streamlined digital ordering technology
- Expanded dining and seating areas
The company said the Mesquite restaurant will also create approximately 50 jobs, including management, kitchen and game technician positions.
Peter Piper Pizza’s menu will continue to focus on made-from-scratch pizza dough prepared daily and baked in the brand’s signature rotating stone ovens. The location will also offer wings, salads, desserts and a weekday lunch buffet available Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In addition, the company is promoting its seasonal Summer Pass program, which starts at $29.99 and includes unlimited visits, gameplay incentives and discounts on food and drinks.
Grand opening promotions planned for May 28-29
The company will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mesquite officials on May 27 at 10 a.m. ahead of the public opening.
Opening promotions scheduled for May 28-29 include:
- Free PlayPark access for the first 50 children each day
- Free lunch buffet access for the first 50 adults
- Summer Pass giveaways through social media contests
- Birthday party raffle promotions
The company said the location will support local fundraising and education initiatives through its Slice of Knowledge Foundation and other community partnerships.
Why it matters
The Mesquite opening reflects a broader trend across the restaurant and CPG sectors. More brands are investing in “eatertainment” concepts that combine food service with immersive experiences.
Family-focused chains are increasingly investing in arcade technology, interactive play zones and digital ordering systems. Competition is intensifying as restaurants look for new ways to increase in-store traffic. The strategy also reflects broader consumer trends favoring destination-style dining experiences. Many consumers now prefer experience-driven venues over traditional quick-service formats alone.
Peter Piper Pizza’s redesign also highlights how legacy regional chains are modernizing their store formats. At the same time, brands continue leaning into nostalgia and family-oriented branding. Similar investments have appeared across pizza, fast-casual and entertainment dining chains. Operators are looking for new ways to increase customer loyalty and encourage longer in-store visits.

Entertainment-driven restaurant formats increasingly require stronger coordination between food production, operational logistics and guest experience management.
