When Sally Met Hellmann’s: A deli-icious reunion takes over Katz’s

In a move that’s as nostalgic as it is delicious, Hellmann’s has teamed up with When Harry Met Sally stars Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal to create an unforgettable ad for the 2025 Big Game. That’s right—35 years after the iconic rom-com hit theaters, the beloved duo is back at Katz’s Delicatessen, recreating the unforgettable deli scene with a new star: Hellmann’s mayonnaise. The result? A mouthwatering mix of humor, nostalgia, and a whole lot of mayo. 

A classic scene, reimagined

The commercial, titled When Sally Met Hellmann’s, takes place in Katz’s, the same deli where the famous “I’ll have what she’s having” moment was filmed. Meg Ryan returns to the role of Sally, and Billy Crystal reprises his role as Harry, as they share a turkey sandwich at their favorite deli. But this time, Sally is less than impressed with her sandwich—until she adds a generous dollop of Hellmann’s mayo, turning the bland into the spectacular. The creamy twist is so delicious that it grabs the attention of other patrons, including none other than actress Sydney Sweeney, who delivers the famous line, “I’ll have what she’s having.”

For fans of the movie, this is the ultimate When Harry Met Sally moment revisited. The ad pays homage to the original scene while giving it a fresh, hilarious spin. It’s a perfect blend of nostalgia for those who grew up with the film and a clever way for Hellmann’s to show just how their mayo can elevate even the most classic of sandwiches.

Hellmann’s isn’t just stopping at the ad—they’re taking their Big Game campaign even further. In partnership with Katz’s Deli, they’re offering fans a chance to recreate the iconic sandwich scene at home with the What She’s Having sandwich kit. Available through February 9, this kit includes all the ingredients needed to make Sally’s perfectly mayo-ed turkey sandwich (plus Harry’s pastrami sandwich for good measure). The kit comes with a recipe card, and each box can serve 4 to 6 people, making it the perfect addition to any Big Game watch party. Hellmann’s always brings art to our lives!
