BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse Adds Butterfinger Pizookie Dessert

Huntington Beach, Calif. — BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse has introduced a new limited-time dessert, adding a Butterfinger-branded Pizookie to its menu starting January 8. The collaboration combines BJ’s signature warm cookie-and-ice-cream format with Butterfinger candy pieces and will be available for dine-in only while supplies last, according to the company.

The Butterfinger Pizookie features a freshly baked chocolate cookie topped with two scoops of vanilla bean ice cream, a chocolate shell, and chopped Butterfinger pieces. The launch marks the latest branded dessert collaboration for BJ’s, which has leaned into rotating Pizookie flavors as a seasonal traffic driver across its more than 200 casual dining locations in 31 states.

BJ’s executives positioned the release as part of the chain’s ongoing strategy to refresh its dessert menu through recognizable consumer brands. According to Heidi Rogers, senior vice president of marketing at BJ’s Restaurants, the Pizookie has remained a core menu item for decades, making it a natural platform for limited-time partnerships.

Rogers said the decision to collaborate with Butterfinger builds on that familiarity while introducing a recognizable candy brand to the format. She added that the company continues to look for ways to evolve the dessert without straying from its established identity.

From the supplier side, Butterfinger owner Ferrero framed the collaboration as an extension of the brand into foodservice-driven experiences. Yann Bastien, vice president of marketing at Butterfinger, said the partnership allows the candy brand to appear in a format designed for sharing and indulgence, rather than packaged retail alone.

The dessert is positioned alongside BJ’s broader menu of deep-dish pizzas, craft beers, and EnLIGHTened Entrees, with the Pizookie continuing to serve as a signature item rather than a standalone novelty.
