HI-CHEW and Menchie’s Launch Frozen Yogurt Limited-Edition

HI-CHEW, a popular candy brand known for its fruity flavors, teamed up with Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt to introduce a limited-edition Key Lime Pie frozen yogurt flavor for November 2024. This non-fat holiday-inspired flavor is available at Menchie’s locations across the U.S. and contains no artificial colors, flavors, or high fructose corn syrup. This partnership reflects a trend of creative brand collaborations that bring innovative flavor experiences to the dessert industry.

HI-CHEW is a well-known candy brand that is celebrated for its chewy texture and a wide variety of fruity flavors, while Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt is North America’s largest self-serve frozen yogurt franchise, recognized for its diverse collaborations and rotating flavors. In this latest collaboration, HI-CHEW and Menchie’s are offering a limited-edition Key Lime Pie frozen yogurt flavor for the holiday season. The flavor was inspired by the Key Lime Pie candy product in HI-CHEW’s dessert mix, which was launched in early 2024. The new yogurt product is available nationwide at Menchie’s stores for November, inviting fans to enjoy the refreshing taste of lime combined with the creaminess of frozen yogurt.

This seasonal Key Lime Pie flavor captures the comforting and nostalgic essence of the holiday season. Kawabe, CEO of Morinaga America (HI-CHEWS US distributor), explained that the flavor’s launch aims to bring “flavor innovation” to a larger audience through partnerships like Menchie’s. This collaboration also aligns with Menchie’s brand values of variety and creativity in frozen desserts, providing both brands with an opportunity to introduce an inventive take on traditional holiday treats. 

HI-CHEW and Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt have teamed up for several unique flavor launches since 2019:

  • 2019: HI-CHEW Dragon Fruit, a vibrant tropical taste that resonated with both brands.
  • 2020: HI-CHEW Mango and HI-CHEW Passion Fruit, flavors designed to be enjoyed individually or swirled together as a tropical smoothie.
  • 2021: HI-CHEW Raspberry, initially launched in 2021 and reintroduced in 2023 due to popular demand.
  • 2022: HI-CHEW Rainbow Sherbet, released for National Candy Month.

HI-CHEW has also teamed up with several other brands such as Zola Bakes, The Doughnut Project, and Dana’s Bakery. Menchie’s has also had its collaboration with brands like Hershey’s and Oatly, offering dairy-free options.

The collaboration showcases rising trends in the dessert and snack industries, where this type of alliance generates consumer interest. Brands are joining forces to create unique offerings that resonate with both of the company’s fans as competition arises. Again, this reflects an industry-wide movement where brands collaborate to reach new customer bases, but this is not the only trend the collaboration spotlights. It also demonstrates the rise of health-conscious consumers and the limited-time release creates a sense of urgency and exclusivity that captivates customer’s attention. When HI-CHEW meets Menchie’s, it’s a flavor explosion.
