Oatly Expands Its Oat Innovation with New Flavored and Ready-to-Drink Launches

Oatly is bringing bold new energy to the plant-based space: one oat at a time. The Swedish brand, known for pioneering oat milk globally, is expanding its U.S. lineup with ready-to-drink matcha beverages and creatively flavored barista products.

From indulgent flavors like popcorn and churro to functional, on-the-go drinks, Oatly continues to push the boundaries of what oat-based innovation can look (and taste) like.

It all starts with oats

Oatly has always kept things simple, and that’s exactly what makes it stand out.

“All we do is oats. That’s what we focus on,” said Giuseppe Lombardo, SVP Strategy & Finance, North America at Oatly.

Founded in Sweden, the brand has spent decades refining its oat-based expertise. While oat milk remains its core product, Oatly has expanded globally with a diverse portfolio that includes:

  • Ice creams
  • Creamers
  • Yogurts (available in Europe)
  • Barista editions tailored for coffee culture

This focused approach has helped Oatly carve out a unique identity in the ever-growing plant-based category.

What’s next for the U.S. market

At Expo West, Oatly teased what’s coming next, and it’s anything but boring.

“There’s a couple ones that already exist in Europe, but we’re bringing them into the U.S. now in the next six months,” said Lombardo.

Here’s what to expect:

Ready-to-drink matcha

A new oat-based matcha beverage designed for convenience and functionality: perfect for consumers looking for an energy boost without compromising on ingredients.

Flavored barista oat milks

Oatly is leaning into flavor innovation with barista-style products that go beyond the usual:

  • Popcorn
  • Churro

“You will see them hopefully towards the end of the year here in the U.S.,” Lombardo added.

A nostalgic twist that hits different

One flavor, in particular, stole the spotlight: popcorn.

“It tastes like the milk left behind after cereal; very sugary and tasty,” said Lombardo.

It’s a perfect example of how Oatly blends nostalgia with innovation, turning familiar experiences into something completely new.
