NEWARK, N.J. — Mars, Incorporated is betting big on small. On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the confectionary giant announced the expansion of its frozen portfolio with the launch of Snickers Ice Cream Minis, a new permanent lineup designed to capture the growing “permissible indulgence” snacking trend.
The new product line takes the classic architecture of a Snickers Ice Cream bar—creamy ice cream, caramel, peanuts, and chocolate shell—and condenses it into a bite-sized format.
The Five-Flavor Lineup
The launch is not just a resizing of the original; it introduces four brand-new flavor profiles to the freezer aisle. The complete collection includes:
- Original: Peanut butter ice cream, caramel, and peanuts in a chocolatey shell.
- Crunchy Peanut Butter: A texture-heavy variant with extra roasted peanuts and a chewy caramel glaze.
- Almond: Vanilla ice cream with almonds and caramel.
- Salted Caramel: Salted caramel ice cream layered with peanuts and caramel.
- Snickers x M&M’S (Walmart Exclusive): A hybrid featuring peanut butter ice cream, caramel, peanuts, and actual M&M’S Minis.
Chanel Gant, Mars Ice Cream Marketing Director, emphasized the strategic shift:
“Snickers Ice Cream is the biggest candy brand in the freezer aisle, and now we’re raising the bar with a cool, snackable treat… delivering the candy-inspired flavors consumers are looking for in the ice cream category with the satisfying taste and textures only Snickers can provide.”
Availability & Marketing
Four of the five flavors (Original, Crunchy Peanut Butter, Almond, Salted Caramel) are available immediately at retailers nationwide in 10-count boxes. The exclusive Snickers x M&M’S flavor will hit Walmart shelves in February.
To support the launch, Mars has planned a “Snickers Minis Tour” that will visit major U.S. cities this summer to distribute samples.

A Small but Mighty Shift
The “minification” of popular snacks continues to be a dominant trend in 2026, as consumers seek portion-controlled ways to enjoy premium treats. By offering complex, multi-textured flavors in a smaller format, Snickers is effectively competing not just with other ice cream brands, but with the entire snack category.
The focus on innovation in the freezer aisle is extending beyond portion size and into consumer engagement strategies. Hudsonville Ice Cream is expected to mark its 100th anniversary in 2026 with a nationwide Ultimate Ice Cream Fan contest and the debut of a limited-edition Birthday Cake flavor, combining product launches with loyalty-driven experiences. Together, these campaigns show how frozen dessert brands are using both format innovation and emotional connection to stand out in an increasingly competitive category.
