Source86’s FSQA Director joins LabX’s Food Safety Testing & Quality Assurance digital event
Thank you to Madisen Essig, Laura Quevedo, and the LabX team for inviting Dedet Barroso, FSQA Director at Source86. Dedet will participate in the upcoming 2026 LabXpo Food Safety Testing & Quality Assurance digital event.
The free virtual event will take place on September 9, 2026. During the event, laboratory professionals, food safety experts, researchers, and industry leaders will come together. Together, they will discuss the latest developments shaping food testing and quality assurance.
As part of the program, Dedet will present “Food Authenticity & Food Fraud: Laboratory Strategies to Protect the Supply Chain” at 12:00 PM ET.
Bringing food safety professionals together
Food testing plays an essential role in protecting consumers and verifying product integrity. At the same time, it helps food companies navigate evolving safety and quality requirements.
With this in mind, the 2026 LabXpo Food Safety Testing & Quality Assurance event will bring laboratory professionals and industry experts together. Throughout the event, they will exchange knowledge about current food safety and quality challenges. In addition, the program will explore technologies and strategies designed to address those challenges.
Presented by LabX in partnership with Contract Laboratory, the event will cover topics including:
- Pathogen detection and allergen analysis
- Shelf-life and stability testing
- Food authenticity and fraud detection
- Emerging contaminants, including PFAS, microplastics, heavy metals, and mycotoxins
- Safety of novel proteins, plant-based foods, and cultured meat
Beyond these topics, the program will explore analytical techniques and approaches to meeting evolving regulatory expectations. In particular, it will address those associated with FSMA, USDA, and Codex Alimentarius standards.
Connecting laboratory science with the food industry
Importantly, LabXpo brings different areas of food testing and quality assurance into the same conversation. As a result, this connection helps bridge laboratory science and industry needs.
Laboratory professionals generate critical data about food safety, quality, composition, and authenticity. However, FSQA teams, manufacturers, and suppliers must translate that information into practical decisions. In turn, these decisions can affect operations, compliance, suppliers, and supply chains.

As part of the program, Dedet’s session will focus on food authenticity and food fraud. In particular, the topic connects laboratory testing, quality assurance, and supply chain management.
Food companies operate within increasingly complex sourcing networks. Therefore, maintaining product integrity requires collaboration across laboratories, quality teams, procurement teams, suppliers, and other supply chain partners.
Within this context, Dedet will bring an FSQA perspective to the broader discussion. Additionally, her session will highlight how testing and verification can help protect food authenticity.
