Production & Sourcing
Source86 sources coconut milk from established coconut-processing regions in Sri Lanka, the Philippines, India, Vietnam and Thailand. Coconuts are harvested year-round in these tropical regions, and working with processors across several origins supports continuous supply and reduces dependency on any single region.
How It’s Produced
- Harvesting and Dehusking: Mature coconuts are harvested, dehusked and split.
- Kernel Preparation: The white kernel is separated, washed and grated.
- Extraction: The grated kernel is pressed, and the extract is blended with water.
- Standardization: The blend is filtered and standardized to the target fat content. Stabilizers are added for stabilized grades.
- Homogenization and Sterilization: The product is homogenized and UHT-treated for aseptic filling, or filled and retort-sterilized in cans.
- Packing and Release: Filled units are incubation-tested for commercial sterility before release.
Applications
- Sauces, Curries and Soups: Base for curry sauces, simmer sauces, soups and gravies requiring creaminess and coconut flavor.
- Ready Meals and Prepared Foods: Adds richness to packaged and canned ready meals, stews and noodle dishes.
- Dairy Alternatives: Coconut-derived base for non-dairy yogurt, cheese alternatives, creamers and plant-based drinks.
- Frozen Desserts: Supports creaminess and mouthfeel in non-dairy ice cream and sorbet.
- Bakery and Desserts: Contributes moisture, fat and flavor in cakes, muffins, custards, puddings and fillings.
- Beverages: Adds body and coconut flavor to smoothies, ready-to-drink beverages and coconut drinks.
- Processed Meat and Seafood: Flavor and moisture contribution in coconut-based marinades and prepared proteins.
- Nutritional Products: Coconut fat source in meal replacements and nutrition formulations.
Physical & Functional Characteristics
White to off-white, opaque liquid.
Mild, naturally sweet coconut flavor that intensifies with fat content.
 Characteristic coconut aroma.
Coconut fat may solidify below roughly 20–24°C, and unstabilized grades may separate naturally. Mixing or gentle warming restores a uniform consistency. Freezing should be avoided.
Approx. 17–19 g fat per 100 g, mostly saturated medium-chain fatty acids, with low protein (about 1–2 g) and carbohydrate (about 1–6 g).
Approx. 170–185 kcal per 100 g.
Plant-derived, vegan, dairy-free and lactose-free.
