Production & Sourcing
Source86 sources spirulina from established microalgae producers in China, including Inner Mongolia, and in India. Working with multiple qualified producers across two countries supports consistent supply, grade flexibility and reduced dependency on any single facility.
How It’s Produced
- Cultivation: Spirulina is grown in controlled, nutrient-rich freshwater ponds or tanks.
- Harvesting: Biomass is separated from the culture medium by filtration or centrifugation.
- Washing and Filtration: The biomass is washed to remove impurities and filtered to remove excess water.
- Concentration: The biomass is concentrated into a paste.
- Drying: The paste is spray-dried in heated air, or air-dried for air-dried grades.
- Sieving, Testing and Packing: Powder is sieved to the specified mesh, tested against specification and packed in sealed drums or cartons.
Harvest & Supply Availability
Because spirulina is grown in controlled cultivation systems, it is harvested year-round and is not tied to a seasonal crop cycle.
